Medictation for chicken pox

Dear Ask The Doctor: What medictation would you reckomend for chickenpox and how long would you use this medictation p.s this is a project. so i need some names of medication and how is helps and what it does to the body

Dear Dejan: Hello, chicken pox in the majority of cases does not require any medication; it will only need to run its course. When itching occurs, it might be a good idea to prescribe Antihistamines such as Loratadine or Cetirizine to prevent scratching that might leave tiny scars or could infect the lesions. I cannot give you any specific brand or name, I hope you understand. In serious cases, medications that accelerate the process might be needed. Anti viral Medication such as Acyclovir which could be given in children and Immunoglobulin. In adults, Valacyclovir or Famciclovir could be used. If an infection is developed in the skin or lungs, Antibiotics might be used as well. I hope I cleared your doubt.
