Chicken pox in young children : Management

Dear Ask The Doctor: I have 2 sons age 3 and 4.5 yrs and both diagnose chicken pox and its really night mare for us cuz they r continues crying from itching so right now what can i do

Dear Muhammad: Chicken pox can be very troublesome and debilitating for yougn children especially. You could restrict them from scratching, apply lactocalamine lotion on the lesions to soothe them and will also reduce the itching and also give them tylenol which will help with the pain and the fever. It will run its course of 7 days and there is not much you can do except the above mentioned supportive measure. All the best.
