Dear Ask The Doctor: My 5 year old daughter was given a penicilan shot yesterday for strep throat she is now running a low grade fever. is she still contagious? at what point is she not contagious Dear Stephanie: I understand how worry you are about your daughter’s condition. Strep Throat is bacterial infection that can make your throat feel sore and scratchy. Very common between ages 5 and 15, this highly contagious condition can spread through airborne droplets when someone with the infection coughs or sneezes, or through shared food or drinks. Others can also pick up the bacteria from a doorknob or other surface and transfer them to your nose or mouth.
