Dear Ask The Doctor: I have a four month old who has had a very congested cough for over a week now. Is this normal and how long should I expect his cough to last? Dear Deidre: Four months infants are always a concern since they are still very susceptible to developing severe infections. Since he/she has had it for a week i would advice you to see a pediatrician or a family doctor inorder to get the child checked up and to take a listen to his/her chest and rule out any pneumonia. In addition the child may need medication or puffers to relive the breathing. Please consult a physician in person. All the best. |
