Dear Ask The Doctor: My 8 years old sister accidentally drink mefenamic acid 500mg, is this bad?what should we do?
Symptoms to watch out for are blood in stools or urine, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, drowsiness, coughing up blood, etc. You should also take note when she last urinated because sometimes, mefenamic acid overdose can affect the kidneys; one may be urinating less or not at all. Just let her drink lots of water and observe for symptoms. If she will have any of these symptoms, then you should see a doctor promptly. Please secure the medicines out of reach of children so this will not happen again. I do hope this helps and take care always. |
