Worried about my toddler having kowasakis

Dear Ask The Doctor: My ped told me a small bump behind my todders ear is a swollen lyphnode just to watch it i noticed this morning that her little fingers are pelling looks like she got them wet to long there are no other symptoms could this be kowasakis she also recived her h1 n1 befor any of hes symtptoms arouse

Dear Maryruth: I understand how concerned you are about your childs condition. In my opinion I see Kawasakis Disease a little too early to be considered at the moment. This is a disease characterized by Fever, which often is higher than 101.3 F (38.5 C), and lasts one to two weeks Extremely red eyes (conjunctivitis) without thick discharge, a rash on the main part of the body (trunk) and in the genital area Red, dry, cracked lips and an extremely red, swollen tongue (strawberry tongue) Swollen, red skin on the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet Swollen lymph nodes in the neck and perhaps elsewhere.Surely if your child has recently had a viral process or even after receiving a vaccine, a possibility of Lymph node inflammation may occur as a reaction of the body to the agent.I would suggest you to watch your son for signs of alert like Fever, Dehydration, and irritability. If he complains of pain on his inflamed lymph node you might want give him Childrens Tylenol and consult your Pediatrician.
