Eight years old and undergoing puberty: is this normal

Dear Ask The Doctor: My daughter is 8 years and growing boobs and hair on the pubis. I am wondering why to early and is she will achieve a normal grow? can she menstruate soon?

Dear Mande: Puberty is usually from the ages of 9 years. However it depends on certain genetic as well as family history issues.  There are many stages of puberty commonly known as tanner staging. It usually starts with breast buds development and pubic hair. This can continue for about a year prior to actually getting the menstrual period. In my opnion there is nothing to worry about and this is the normal growing up process.  I hope this helps/
