Total Cholesterol Readings

Dear Ask The Doctor: I had a Cholesterol check done a couple of months ago, because my LDL had been 137. My total is now 122, LDL 68 and HDL 38. Is this an acceptable level on HDL and Total? I have never been this low on any of them before Thank You

Dear Rick:

Your total cholesterol is in the normal range, your LDL or low density lipoprotein is near optimal and your HDL is borderline low, however it is not in a dangerous range.

Overall your results are good, if you have risk or cardiovascular history in the family I would suggest you to exercise weekly and eat healthy.
