Open sore on chin, cheeks and face

Dear Ask The Doctor: I have had an open sore on my chin near corner of mouth but not touching it abot half inch away i guess.it has fluid coming out of it..i wasnt worried until i woke up about 4 days later with similer red spots on my cheeks and on my neck..please help..is this a cold sore?

Dear Lessily: Cold sores most commonly appear on the lips but may occasionally appear on the nostrils, chin or fingers. Antivirals like Acyclovir (Zovirax),  Famciclovir (Famvir), Valacyclovir (Valtrex) could be used to accelerate the process but not cure cold sores. Lidocaine and Benzocaine creams may be applied if there is pain. If you don’t notice improvement after a week, a visit to your doctor might be recommended.
