Colonsocopy

Dear Ask The Doctor: Good Afternoon! I am having a colonoscopy performed tomorrow and the doctors reccomendation is to take a full bottle of mirealax today and a few hours before my appointment it says to take an enema. Do i need to do this if my excrement looks like water? Thanks, Cat

I understand your concern about Colonoscopy preparation.  Let me reassure you that the indications your physician indicated are correct and I will also suggest not to drink anything pass midnight.

Feelings of bloating and nausea are common after the first hours because of the large volume of fluid ingested. This is temporary, however, and will disappear once bowel movements begin.
