Best medication to help my constipation |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: I am a female age 75 who takes Hydrocodone and other meds that cause constipation, what is the best thing to take for chronic constipation? Dear Dixie: The measure that would be helpful in relieving your constipation are : i) Proper diet and hydration. Diet rich in green leafy vegetables add to the bulk of the stool and may relieve symptoms of constipation. ii) You can also take bulk forming laxatives like methylcellulose, psyllium and bran. iii) Stoold softners like lactulose may be helpful in some cases. I would also advise you to visit your doctor for a colonoscopy if not already done. |
