Constipation problem - What is the best treatment? |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: I didnt know which catagory this comes under but i really need to poo but when i go to the toilet its too big and hard to come out of my bum, is there anything i can do to soften it up because its starting to give me stomach cramps?? Thanks Dear Paul: There are various causes and treatments for constipation. In your case it seems that your stool bulk is less and the same is very hard and thus leads to the constipation . The measure that would be helpful in relieving your constipation are : i) Proper diet and hydration. Diet rich in green leafy vegetables add to the bulk of the stool and may relieve symptoms of constipation. ii) You can also take bulk forming laxatives like methylcellulose, psyllium and bran. iii) Stool softners like lactulose may be helpful in some cases. All the best. |
