Dear Ask The Doctor: I am a 21 year old female. I am currently suffering from shortness of breath, painful chest pains, an on and off fever and have recently started coughing up blood with phlegm. I would just like to know if its seriuos and if I should go see a Doctor as soon as possible? Dear Melissa: You do need to go and see a physician in person ASAP as you may be having either a pneumonia or any other acute lung infection like TB which need treatment. Your symptoms seem more likely to be pneumonia. You will need a chest xray done along with a analysis of your sputum. Please consult your physician. All the best. |
