Dear Ask The Doctor: I am a 61 year old female smoker, in the past few months have been coughing and get clear white phlym, after clearing up the phlym I need to blow my nose, sometimes I hear whizzing in my lungs Is this something I should see a doctor for?
Dear Pat: This may be an acute on chronic bronchitis especially since you are a smoker. The wheezing confirms the same. You need to see a doctor in person for a physical examination and a possible xray to rule out any other focus of infection. You will need antibiotics or some bronchodilators to help reduce and cure the symptoms. All the best. |
