Dear Ask The Doctor: My boyfriend has loose and bloody stool. he has no abdominal pain.but when he uses the restroom he has loose and extremely bloody stool almost like diarrhea we don't know whats wrong with him or what to do Dear Amanda: I understand your worry about your boyfriend’s condition. Rectal bleeding can have many explanations, He could just have an infection but certainly we would have expected other symptoms to be present as well such as Fever and Abdominal cramps. There is a need for a better and more detailed clinical history and physical examination to rule out other possibilities such as fissure, bleeding Hemorrhoids, ulcers as well as others which could sometimes be unnoticed until regular quantities of blood are lost. I will suggest you to take him for an evaluation as soon as possible to get the right diagnosis and treatment, a stool sample taken at the hospital might be needed. Keep him well hydrated in the meantime and watch for other symptoms such as high fever, pain, nausea and vomits. I wish him a prompt recovery. |
