Blood in stool |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: Have had diarrhoe off and on for months. Right now have diarrahoe which is black very loose and some mucas with blood clots in it. Past few days sever stomach cramps and stomach is sore. Dear Rick: I understand your concern about bloody stools. I would suggest you to consult your gastroenterologist to rule out another episode of ulcer and for a more detailed study. Black stools might be related to any source of bleeding in your stomach or first portion of your intestine, most commonly due to ulcers or gastritis. If you notice burning type of pain in your abdomen, this could increase the chances for that diagnosis. In the meantime I would recommend you to avoid drinking coffee, alcohol, spicy foods and painkillers. |
