Dear Ask The Doctor: I have stopped taking a medicine called clindamycin like 2 weeks ago and ever since i did i have had diarrhea that wont seem to stop can you give me so help Dear James: Unfortunately Antibiotic medicines can cause diarrhea also as a side effect, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you have diarrhea that is watery or bloody, consult your physician to rule out this possibility. You should drink plenty of fluids and try over the counter medications such as Pepto-Bismol, Imodium A-D, and Kaopectate, which are available as liquids or tablets. Follow the instructions on the package. If the diarrhea persists, consult your physician for a more detailed evaluation and possibly stool sample for diagnosis confirmation. |
