Preventing Dehydration with Vomiting and Diarrhea |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: Abdominal pain vomitting and diarrhea unable to keep any thing down not even water. How can I avoid dehydration Dear Phyllis: You need to continue your fluid intake as much as possible, water, juices or lemonade etc given that your stomach is able to keep up that fluid. Oral re hydration solution available over the counter is the best to prevent dehydration because it supplies both water and electrolytes that you have lost from the vomiting and diarrhea. You can also have a sports drink like gatorade, or lemon juice with a pinch of salt dissolved in it to keep hydrated.
