Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi Doctor, I am 45 year old and I have Diarrhea associated with a lot of gas for the past 12 years, I had Colonoscopy twice, upper GI endoscopy once, blood, stool, urine testS X-ray you name it. everything was normal. now for the past year or so, I have been getting a tension head ache especially after a meal and burping so much. Do you have any suggestions? Thank You.
Dear Abby: If you have done all the tests and they have proven negative and along with the type of symptoms you are describing it seems that you may be suffering from irritable bowel syndrome. There are many methods of treatment to deal with this. Try the elimination diet ie eliminating certains food from your diet and identifying when the symptoms occur or are worse. This way you can avoid these foods and thus improve your symptoms. You can also take lomotil or imodium for the diarhea if it is interfering in your quality of life. Tension headaches are best treated with NSAIDS medication like tylenol or aspirin. All the best. |
