Pain in the right lower abdomen.

Dear Ask The Doctor: Sir,i am a 19 year old girl who has already suffered from an awful Hepatitis A when i was of 12 years.Off late i am suffering from reduced appetite.Whenever i tend to have full stomach meal , the right hand side lower region of my belly tends to pain suddenly which often becomes unbearable. It is an irregular periodic pain which lasts for the next 10-15 minutes and then disappears. Is it something serious ? Please enlighten me regarding this symptom.Thank you.

Dear Mumai: Your symptoms could be caused by either gastritis, pancreatitis, hepatitis, biliary colic due to gall bladder stone or renal colic. If over the counter antacids do not provide relief, you may need see your doctor for blood-work and imaging studies to determine the cause of pain.
