Dear Ask The Doctor: What could be wrong with my husband who has alot of gas, acid reflex, feels nauesa, and completely drained. When he has this feeling he takes Mylanta and it seems to relieve him. Most of the time he has no pain in stomach area. Once in awhile his stomach might cramp.
Dear Devona: Your husband may have gastritis (inflammation of the stomach), secondary to meloxicam use for his arthritis and his history of acid reflux. I would advise that your husband should attend his family doctor for a detailed history and clinical examination. He may require additional investigations such as routine blood work and a Haemoglobin level check, and endoscopy (a camera used to visualise the lining of the stomach and intestines). He may also require referral to a gastroenterologist for a specialised opinion. |
