Dizziness and vertigo episodes getting worse

Dear Ask The Doctor: I am a 54 year old man, in reasonably good health. However lately I have been experiencing dizziness and vertigo upon waking at first, and now upon laying down. It's getting worse and I am beginning to worry. Also have this throbbing pain at the base of my skull,neck area.

Dear Robert: Vertigo and dizziness may have many causes: inner ear disorders (as Labyrinthitis, benign positional vertigo), migraine headaches, reduced blood flow through the arteries that supply blood to the brain, multiple medications interaction. I suggest that you make an appointment with a Neurologist, in the view that is getting worse, to rule out the possible causes and proceed with the appropriate treatment
