Dizziness and Fainting in Young Mother

Dear Ask The Doctor: Im 27 years old and had my son 6 months ago. I am a stay at home mom for the past week or two I have been having faint spells at least 10 times a day I havent fainted completed but ive felt disse and like im falling and my head feels like its spining sometimes

Dear Nicole: It can be sacry to feel theses symptoms when you know someone else (your child) is relying on you fro their health.  In my practice, the most common cause of dizziness in new mothers includes iron deficiency and vitamin B12 deficiency.  I often suggest to new mothers to continue their prenatal vitamins because these two conditions are so common.

It is also important to see your doctor to rule out thyroid disease and vertigo which require different treatments.

The possibility of exhaustion must also be considered.
