Eye floater and tinnitus

Dear Ask The Doctor: I got eye floaters in both eye for 10 years and tinistus in left year for 8 years.every six month i do eye check up. i have good vision and no refractive error.doctor told me to just ignore .both hear have normal hearing. i see shooting star in vision when i see sky.glare during night. i see ghost image.what is the cause of floater, tinnistus and ghost image?

Dear Praveen: Floaters are usually harmless. However, they can be associated with significant eye disease such as retinal detachment which can lead to blindness. Since you have been experiencing symptoms like glare and blurry vision, I would suggest having your eyes examined by an ophthalmologist since these could be a sign of retinal detachment, glaucoma or trauma to the eye. The tinnitus could be due to eustacian tube dysfunction and unrelated to the eye symptoms.
