Do I have a corneal abrasion? If so, should I see a doctor?

Dear Ask The Doctor: My eye lash fell into my eye and my left eye is experiencing very dull pain but its very annoying. It's easy to keep my eye open and I'm pretty sure the eye lash is out. There is no blurring in vision and there is no increased sensitivity of light. I would say the pain level on the scale of 1-10 is 2.

Dear Spencer: It is very unlikely that you suffered a corneal abrasion from an eyelash unless it was in your eye for a long time. Instead, you have mostly likely developed some minor inflammation that should resolve shortly. Should you experience an increase in discomfort, you should then see a doctor.
