Most Common Symptoms of Stomach Flu

Dear Ask The Doctor: What are the most common signs of the stomach flu and virus?? could it possibably turn into a life threatening condition for lets say a 7 year old??

The most common symptoms of stomach flu include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. These symptoms usually lead to a loss of body fluids and dehydration.
Children and infants tend to loose body fluids more rapidly than adults, and therefore they are more susceptible to dehydration.
Stomach flu infections are self limiting, but require replacement of the lost body fluids and electrolytes to correct the dehydration. In cases of severe dehydration, intravenous fluids could be
required.
