Dear Ask The Doctor: I have recently moved to Southwest Virginia from Illinois and have not been feeling well ever since I have gotten here. I have seen two doctors who diagnosed me with a sinus infection and I have been taking the antibiotics for 3 days and still am not feeling any better. I take Vyvance every day for ADHD and that is the only medication I am on. I drink and smoke sparingly but not a habit. This is all started when I had a panic attack and went to the ER. I had an EKG done and an xray on my chest and that all turned out OK. Recently I have been getting bad ear aches with a lot of pressure in my head and feelings of haziness and mild confusion. It is not a headache just pressure. I also have been getting hot flashes but my hands are always freezing. I was thinking could it have something to do with my teeth like an infection? Both of my parents do have thyroid problems, one under and one over active, but no history of diabetes or anything in my family. I have allergies to mold and was also thinking it could be something to do with this. Should I be worried at all? Thanks for all your help
Dear Matt: Your symptoms of ear ache, pressure sensation on the head and haziness & confusion could definitely be due to the sinus infection. I would suggest that you continue with the antibiotics and consult your doctor if you do not feel any better after 5 days of treatment. It could also be that Vyvanse may be responsible for your symptoms. Vyvanse is known to cause headaches, anxiety, dizziness, restlessness and increased sweating in 1-10% of cases. |
