Dear Ask The Doctor: I have a headache since ever but in the past month it got stronger and it get stronger in night and in the morning when i wake up i can't take the pain in night and morning what could be causing it ?
Dear Homam: Headaches could be caused by muscular contraction (tension headaches), vascular changes and inflammation. Though most common headaches are caused by tension type headaches, your symptoms of early morning headache warrants for investigation by your doctor. Cluster, migraine and tension-type headaches may produce a headache that awakens an individual in the early morning hours (usually after 4 AM), or is present upon awakening. However, serious diseases may cause early morning awakening headaches. These diseases may include brain tumors, sleep apnea, and severe high blood pressure. I would suggest that you consult your doctor for a history and physical examination. Your doctor may also advise you a CT brain depending on the findings. I wish you well, take care.
