Tight Band Feeling around my head.

Dear Ask The Doctor: For the past four days I have had a feeling as though a tight rubber band is around my head and it feels as though there's a lot of pressure inside. I have also been suffering to what I believe to be insecurities problems since just before feeling this way.

Dear Aaron: The symptoms that you are experiencing could be due to tension type headache. This is caused when there is stress to the cervical muscles in the neck and scalp muscles. Usually the headache is present bilaterally and has a tightening or band like quality. This type of headache is extremely common and does not indicate anything serious. The headaches can be managed with rest and anti inflammatory medications like ibuprofen, naproxen etc.
