Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi, I keep getting pulsating headaches on the left hand side of my head above my left ear and can extend to behind my eyes, they are very painful,it angers when I bend over or pick something up, I don't know what starts them or how to get rid of them, I've had these headaches for a few years now. I've spoke to my doctor in England who thinks its a tension headache! I know its not I've spoke to a doctor in Greece AND Bulgaria still no luck, they had no idea! Just need a little help Thanks,dan..
Dear Daniel: Definately from your symptoms alone, this sounds like a stress or tension headache. These headaches are caused when there is stress to the cervical muscles in the neck and scalp muscles. This type of headache is extremely common and does not indicate anything serious. The treatment is with over the counter analgesics. If the headache worsens even with treatment or there is rapid worsening of the headache, a CT of the brain can be done to rule out any underlying pathology. |
