Dear Ask The Doctor: I have been getting pressure like feeling in my forhead and temples, mainly left temple for 4 days. its like a head ache but not that painful. i can just contantly feel pressure. ive also been gettin sharp shooting pains in temple and top of head and above left eye. i do feel dizzy and weird ,lightheaded almost but not all the time, im not sure if this is due to pressure or anxiety from worring i have a brain tumor.
Dear Emma: The headaches that you are experiencing is most probably related to stress and anxiety. Tension headache is the most common type of headache and is caused by stress. Managing a tension headache is often a balance between fostering healthy habits, finding effective nondrug treatments and using medications appropriately. You should try to reduce stress by incorporating some aerobic exercise into your day to day routine, or meditation and yoga would also be beneficial. Pain medications (NSAIDS) can be used to relieve the symptoms of headache. Using medications in conjunction with stress management techniques may be more effective than is either treatment alone in reducing tension headaches. I wish you well, take care. |
