Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi my name is Sarah, I have slipped and fell on ice and slammed my head into pavement about 5 days ago, I have had 4 concussions in the past due to playing sports and know i should of went to the hospital and gotten it check out, but I thought I could just ride this one out. since the fall i have had a massive headache, I now have become very tired, nauseous, dizzy, lightheaded, light sensitive, foggy brained and i just feel like i'm walking in a fog all the time. should i go to the hospital to get checked out even though it has been 5 days.
Dear Sarah: It seems that you may have suffered more than a concussion this time. The symptoms of nausea and dizziness along with decreased level of consiousness ( foggy brained) concern me. You may be having a slight internal bleed which may be causing these symptoms. Typically if this was a concussion these symptoms would subside by now.
I highly recommend you to contact your physician or nearby hospital soon to carry out further tests like a CT of the head and for a complete check up which will help give a clear diagnosis. |
