Constant headache for the past 6 days.

Dear Ask The Doctor: Hi im a little worried ive had a constant headache in the left side of my head for 6 days now since last thursday night ive been taking some tablets but they only take the pain away for 15 minutes then it comes back its been waking me up in the middle of the night and early in the moring. it really hurts please can you help me ?

Dear Leanne: Your headache could be caused due to migraine or a tension type of headache.  You have mentioned that you have been taking medication for the pain with no relief. You have also mentioned that the headache appears in the morning on waking. These symptoms need to be further investigated to rule out any infection in the brain or increased intracranial pressure. You may have to visit your doctor to do a complete blood work and LP if indicated.
