Dear Ask The Doctor: What could be the possible cause of a headache that feels like someone is drilling a hole inside my head Dear Vanetta: Though migraines and tension type headache do cause headaches that are severe, cluster headache is the one that presents with a severe unilateral headache that feels like if someone is drilling into their eye. The cause these headaches are not clearly understood. Cluster headaches are typically short in duration and may occur several times of the day, more severe in the early mornings.The pain experienced in a cluster headache is sharp, stabbing and can be excruciating at times.
