Dear Ask The Doctor: Im a 39 year old female, with certan symptoms and want to know if I may be having a heart attack. I have chest pains like bad heartburn, pain in my neck, and between my shoulder blades, I have an upset stomach, and pain righ above my belly button. I have problems sleeping and even after I have slept, I feel so very tired still. I had a flu shot today, but the symptoms started about 3 days ago. 8 or 9 years ago I was told I had a TIA
Dear Zabrina: There are many causes of chest pain. They may be due to problems with the heart, lungs and stomach. Since you've mentioned symptoms (chest pain, pain in neck) that could indicate myocardial infarction or angina, I would suggest you to immediately consult your doctor. An electrocardiogram and cardiac bio-markers may be helpful in ruling out a heart attack. |
