Dear Ask The Doctor: My hands go purple when I am cold, or in a cold environment. What should I do because everyone thinks that it's weird?
Dear Tom: I do understand that you are concerned due to the bluish discoloration of your hands. This discoloration of the lower arms may be due to peripheral cyanosis caused by high levels of deoxygenated blood, or blood that is not oxygen rich. It could be caused by a vascular occlusion or problems with decreased oxygen in the blood supply with respiratory and cardiac diseases. I would advise you to seek the help of your health-care provider for further management. |
