Dear Ask The Doctor: I'm 49 and sarted having problems with fatigue and random sharp pains in my chest near my heart. Should I be concerned? What could be the probem? Thanks for any help!!
Dear Doug: Any chest pain should be thoroughly evaluated and all necessary tests must be done to rule out a cardiac condition. Thought your symptoms of sharp chest pain indicates a non cardiac origin of the chest pain, a preliminary electrocardiogram is the best test to rule out anything serious with the heart. You could talk to your physician about starting you on a proton pump inhibitor medication like pantolac which will help and improve the symptoms if it is due to a peptic ulcer or reflux disease. I hope this helps. |
