Bundle Branch Block of the Heart |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: What is a bundle branch blockage to the heart Dear Jeffrey: When there is a block at any point or location along the normal path of electric signals in the heart, it is referred to as a block, and is named after its location as a nodal block or a block in the fibers that transmit these signals to the individual chambers. As such, a bundle branch block is the one occurring along the group or bundle of fibers that transmit these signals to the heart chambers. Many patients with bundle branch block usually do not have symptoms or may just have symptoms like fainting, palpitation etc. These types of blocks can be diagnosed via EKG and should be taken care of because such blocks indicate an underlying heart condition that may need treatment.
