Coronary sclerosis and Aortic Anuerysm's

Dear Ask The Doctor: If a person has coronary sclerosis and this person gets injured during a fall (Ex. fracture, bruising and/or chest pain) can the reaction from the fall cause an aortic aneurysm? If so how long after this person has the aneurysm may he/she live without treatment?
Dear Stacey: I assume you are referring to coronary atherosclerosis which is essentially coronary artery disease. Injuries and falls have no impact on this and do not result in aortic aneurysms. If however, you have been found to have an aortic aneurysm, or are concerned that you may have an aortic aneurysm, then I would advise further evaluation with an abdominal ultrasound scan. |
