Angiogram results including left ventricular pressure.

Dear Ask The Doctor: Mom had an angiogram done last week. EF is 40% and I understand that, but the doctor also gave a number to the LV at a 140/10. What does that mean? She is 69 years old with diabetes, and only one kidney, quad by-pass four years ago
Dear Dannel: This number applies to the left ventricular pressure. The top number [140] is the systolic pressure (when the ventricular muscle contracts) and the bottom number [10] is the diastolic pressure (when the ventricular muscle relaxes). Both of these numbers are considered to be within normal limits and imply a moderately normal left ventricular function. |
