Umbilical Hernia and Inversion Table

Dear Ask The Doctor: It has been a month after my Umbilical surgery and i have returned back to work on light duty (under 20 lbs) and will continue on light duty for 2 more months. I am experiencing leg pain, and all though I could take pain killers right now, I get up early in the morning and pain killers make that difficult. I have an inversion table that solves my leg pain. My question is probably obvious now. Can I use an inversion table a month after my umbilical hernia surgery? Thank you!
Dear Blake: The use of your inversion table should have no effect on your recent umbilical surgery. However you should be careful if you have high blood pressure, heart disease or glaucoma as inversion can aggravate these conditions. |
