Dear Ask The Doctor: I recently had an incisional hernia repair that was larger than the dr. has ever seen it took 20 not 3 laproscopic holes is this normal
Dear Trina: Most laparoscopic surgeries can be performed through three to five "holes" or incision sites. Twenty is by no means the normal number of sites. As your surgeon has already pointed out he/she had difficulty effecting the reapir due the size of the hernia and this was clearly the reason for the number of incision sites used. |
