Dear Ask The Doctor: I had a Inguinal hernia left side repaired with mesh about 6 months ago. With in the past two weeks I have noticed a "full" sensation without the bulge and some warm burning at the surgery scar. Could this be the hernia has came back? Dear Josh: It is possible that you have a recurrence of your inguinal hernia. However, this cannot be confirmed without a physical examination. There are certain conditions which increase the likelihood of developing a recurrence. These include Diabetes Mellitus, obesity or premature return to full physical activity before complete recovery. A significant number of persons have chronic pain following hernia repair. This complication could be another reason for your symptoms. |
