Dear Ask The Doctor: I was adjusting a car seat belt (Pushing down hard) and then I heard a popping noise in my groin. My right testicle is contracted now, no pain just uncomfortable. Dear Carl: .I think in attempting to adjust the seat belt you may have developed a groin hernia. In adjusting the seat belt it is likely that you increased your intra-abdominal pressure significantly creating a defect (opening) in the abdominal wall. A sudden hernia could also explain your contracted testicle. A thorough physical examination is necessary to confirm the diagnosis. Hernias can only be adequately treated by surgical repair. |
