Dear Ask The Doctor: I have a swollen lymph noid between my legs that I have had for a week. its been getting bigger and more painful that it hurts to sit an walk at times
Dear Shavonda: You need to get the swelling checked by your doctor as early as possible, so as to confirm if its a lymph node or something else, depending on the site of the swelling. Usually the lymph node enlarges in response to infection of any of the surrounding organs, but a confirm diagnosis would only be possible after an examination by your doctor. If the swelling and redness keeps increasing in size and severity, you should visit the emergency at the earliest for treatment, because the swelling could be a femoral hernia that may have got stuck or strangulated in to the narrow femoral canal, which requires immediate surgical intervention to release the strangulation.
