Femoral hernia complication concerns

Dear Ask The Doctor: I have just had a femoral hernia repair - during the operation the doctor nicked my bladder as it had adhered to bone and she had to get it off. Apparently i have a lot of scar tissue from previous surgeries. I had to wear a catheter for around two weeks. My question is: I now have a numb, prickly pain in my groin - is this to do with the bladder? the surgery? is it nerve damage? will it go away? should I be aware of anything in the future? thank you
Dear Jane: The pain and numbness you are experiencing is probably the result of minor nerve injury sustained during your operation. They symptoms usually subside with time and there are no future consequences. |
