Food tastes bad after surgery

Dear Ask The Doctor: My mom recently had surgery and food does not taste right. Online queries suggest it is from the anesthesia. Is there any way to help this condition?
Dear Lori: The bad taste you describe will eventually resolve without the need for any medication, As you have rightly suggested it is likely due to a side effect of the anesthesia or medications she received during the procedure. The bad taste does not last long and usually resolves in two to three weeks. |
