Proteinuria in normal functioning Kidneys |
|
Dear Ask The Doctor: Is it possible to have protein in your urin and it not be related to your kidenys i have had protein in my urine for about 10 years and i have always had a normal kideny function ,blood pressure is fine and i dont have diabetes ?wh Dear Rebecca: Surely there are other conditions that might develop the presence of high levels of proteins in your urine to be considered Proteinuria. Since you already ruled out Diabetes and your kidney function is normal, other conditions to look for are hypertension and possibly recurrent UTI or inflammation of the urinary tract. If you are an athlete and exercise regularly, this might also be the cause. In any case, I would suggest you to follow up with your PCP and eventually with a Nephrologist. I wish you the best. Â |
