Diabetes, high-creatinine level and kidney disorder

Dear Ask The Doctor: Good day! i'm jay, i would like to ask a few questions regarding my uncle's medical condition he has diabetes and was advised to unergo dialysis...and has high creatinine level which leads to kidney disorder.. my question is how can we lower his creatinine level, and what diet should we give him given to consideration that he is diabetic, and has high creatinine levels and has kidney disorder thanks for your help and i would greatly appreciate your quick response.. thanks and God Bless! -jay-

Dear Jay: The amount of protein he can eat on this diet depends on his weight, so do not attempt this diet on your own. You will also need to test frequently to be sure that the creatinine levels in urine are increasing and the levels in his blood are decreasing. This indicates that the creatinine is being excreted properly. It would be best to approach a dietician for a detailed diet plan. But control of the blood sugar levels is very important and should try avoiding meat all together and skimmed milk should be the option for him.
