High Levels from Urinalysis Results

Dear Ask The Doctor: I received the result from an urinalysis that shows high levels of creatinine (261 mg per dL), microalbumin (11.1 mg per dL) and total protein (33 mg per dL). I'm wondering if these levels are anything I should be concerned about and what they might indicate.

Dear Jordan: The above lab values from the urine analysis indicates the decreasing functional or filtering capacity of the kidneys. You need to consult your doctor for early treatment and prevention of a possible further worsening of the condition. Primary causes with any damage to the kidneys like glomerular diseases, nephrotic syndrome or secondary kidney damage due to diabetes, hypertension etc. all needs to be assessed to diagnose the cause of deteriorating kidney functions.
